To eat is to participate in the cycle of life and death. For Día de Muertos, Charles Michel will transform regenerative ingredients, flowers, fungi and seeds into a contemplative, edible altar: an offering connecting the living, the land and the unseen.
We feed the altar. Then, the altar feeds us.
In Mexican tradition, an altar is a bridge between worlds, and few places hold that meaning as beautifully as the table.
On the second night of The Living Altar, we gather at Altar, a beloved restaurant in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, for an evening dedicated to remembrance and celebration in equal measure.
Photographs, flowers, food, fire and love come together around a shared table, as we honor those who came before us and remember how precious it is to be here, alive.
Expect a menu rooted in place, an atmosphere held with intention, and an evening that feels as much like ceremony as celebration.
Saturday, October 31, 5:30–10:00 PM. Altar Restaurant, San Miguel de Allende.
This is a paid add-on and is not included with room bookings.
